COOKIE POLICY

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers downloaded to your computer when you access certain websites. Like keys to virtual doors, cookies unlock a computer’s memory and allow a website to recognize returning users by opening doors to various content and services. The cookie itself, like a key, does not contain any information, but when read by a browser it can help a website improve the service provided.

Cookie files are automatically placed in the cookie file – the memory of your browser – and each one normally contains:

  • The name of the server from which the cookie was sent,
  • The lifetime of the cookie,
  • A number – usually a randomly generated unique number.
  • The website server that sent the cookie uses this number to identify you when you return to a site or move from one page to another. Only the server that sent the cookie is able to decrypt, and therefore use, the cookie.

We use cookies (or other trackers) to help you navigate our websites and/or mobile applications (our « Services ») efficiently and to perform certain functions, such as analyzing visits to our Services.

Some cookies may collect personal data, including data you have provided, such as your user name, or in cases where cookies track you to refine the content of advertising messages. To learn more about our use of your personal data, please see our Privacy Policy.

Who may set cookies on your device, and for what purpose?

We, ATOL – A Touch Of Luxury, may set cookies on your device for several reasons: to help you navigate our Services more easily, to manage and provide you with our Services, and to provide you with better and more personalized content.

The cookies we set allow us to, for example:

  • Adapt the content display format and our Services to your device,
  • Track your browsing habits to identify your preferences regarding the content we offer,
  • Tailor content to your preferences as identified through your browsing data,
  • to display the items in your shopping cart, and
  • Recognize your device so you don’t have to enter the same data each time you access our services.

Third parties: service providers, partners, advertisers and advertising agencies.

Third parties may install cookies on your device.

We have no control over the installation and use of cookies by third-party companies and are not responsible for the use of cookies by third parties. These companies have their own privacy policies and data collection practices. Please refer to each company’s privacy policy to learn more about the controls available to you.

The purpose of the third party cookies we are aware of is to provide audience measurement and social features as well as to personalize content and advertising.

Measures: audience, visitors and technique used

Audience measurement cookies are used by third parties on our behalf to obtain information about your browsing patterns, so that we can (among other things):

  • Understand how you arrive at a website and reconfigure your path;
  • Count the number of visitors to our services, to a web page of our services, or specifically to improve our service to you;
  • Gathering figures relating to visits and/or conversions;
  • To track billing by our partners (advertisers and search engine sales and affiliate marketing companies) on our services; and
  • To access your user account.

These tools use technologies that locate website users and associate a « referrer » or campaign with a unique identifier.

How long do cookies last?

Our website uses several categories of cookies including:

Session cookies: these are created temporarily in your browser’s subdirectory when you visit a website and are automatically destroyed when you leave the website.

Permanent cookies: unlike session cookies, these cookies are reactivated when you return to the same website, and remain in the subdirectory of your device until they expire (usually after a period of 12 months).

Secure cookies: This is a category of cookies that are transmitted over an encrypted HTTP connection. When the cookie is set, the security system informs the browser that the cookie should only be sent back to the application under encrypted connections.

Third-party cookies: A third-party cookie is placed on your hard drive by a site from a domain other than the one you are currently visiting (for example, where the website content, including advertisements, is a third-party domain). Third-party cookies are set so that a site can find something about you later. These cookies are set by third parties and we have no control over how they are set.

Same-site cookies: These allow servers to know that a cookie should not accompany defined cross-site requests, which provides some level of protection against cross-site spoofing attempts. Same-site cookies are not compatible with multiple browsers.

You have the ability to control how cookies are set on your device by adjusting your browser settings (see below).

How do you accept or decline the installation of cookies on your device?

What concerns cookies used for the purpose of delivering personalized advertisements, you can make a choice from our Consent Management Platform, available here: Consent Management Platform. You can also allow, reject or disable cookies by changing your browser settings. If you disable a cookie that is already on your browser, it will no longer be active, but it will not disappear from your browser until the end of its lifetime. Please note, however, that blocking all cookies may prevent you from accessing some of our services or may affect the performance, efficiency or personalization of the service offered by our site.
